Last week the lower school celebrated Culture Week; a series of activities aiming to celebrate the amazing cultural diversity within our school community, led by the diversity committee. We started each day with a Thought for the Day on different themes such as food, art and history, and each Thought for the Day was accompanied by a song from a different country.
On Monday we spoke in assembly about cultural diversity in Maths and led discussions in PSHE. Students had the opportunity to bring in and enjoy cultural snacks from all over the world on Tuesday, with over 30 different countries represented. In form time, students created world maps to show where everyone in their forms is from and the diversity ambassadors organised a presentation on immigration. We ended the week with a bang with the cultural fashion show where students had the opportunity to show off their cultural clothing!
We hope students and teachers enjoyed these activities and have appreciated learning more about different cultures. It is more important than ever to celebrate our differences and recognise the wide range of cultures within our school community.
