Last night Mr V took 4 teams from our KS3 and KS4 debaters to a competition at South Hampstead High School.
All four teams took part in three separate heats/debates. Three of our teams won two out of their three debates and our 4th team (made up of year 9 students) had to be entered for the 6th form senior round and debated against 6th formers for all three debates and managed to be within only a few points of them!
It was a great success all round and the students were fierce in their resilience and courage in, what was for some, their very first competition!
From Amel in Year 9: On Tuesday I had the great opportunity to attend a debating competition at South Hampstead High School. It was a great experience overall, as we were able to participate in (and win!) multiple debates. It was also our first competition, in which we could interact with others, since the pandemic, making it extremely thrilling, especially with all the nerves. Despite this, we enjoyed ourselves and had an immense amount of fun. All in all, it was a great experience, and we hope to see more opportunities like these soon!
