On Saturday, 25th March Year 7, 8 & 10 students had an exciting opportunity to take part in a the regional qualifying round of the First Lego League Robotics Competition. Bechtel, the multi-national engineering company, sponsored the event which took place at their offices in Park Royal. This annual international competition encourages St Marylebone students to develop skills in teamwork, resilience, robot programming, Lego mechanical and robot design. The students presented a well researched project that considered how renewable energy sources could be used to reduce the cost of energy used by the school.
“It was a very fun and a bit stressful experience! Even though it was my second time attending, I think I had more fun than last year. I was a lot more confident during the presentation, and this year, I got to program, showcase, and set up the robot for the different missions it had to do. And although we didn’t get first place, I think we did an amazing job since we got a judge’s award.” Ioanna Y8
