St Marylebone is a state-funded school. Over the last ten years state funding has reduced considerably: a number of government grants do not exist anymore, per-pupil funding has reduced, greater levels of need are required to qualify for funding for Special Educational Needs and Free School Meals and sixth form funding has also reduced.
Meanwhile costs have risen significantly, including National Insurance and pension contributions, energy prices, ICT, premises maintenance … and all the inflated costs of inner London life. This makes it very difficult indeed to provide all that our young people deserve in their education.
Previously, donations to the School were a nice-to-have gift; we now depend on them. If you would like to contribute, all voluntary contributions to the school are gratefully received. Big or small, it will all be appreciated. We realise that not everyone is in a position to give and no one should feel obliged or suffer hardship as a result of this ask. Here is the latest letter about this from the Chair of Governors
Opportunities to contribute
There are different funds you can contribute to:
The Parents’ Voluntary Contribution Fund
This is a way for parents to give money to the School which goes directly to funding school resources. You can give monthly or annually by direct debit or make a one-off donation.
The Elizabeth Phillips Wider Opportunities Fund
The social or financial circumstances of some St Marylebone students would prevent them from taking part in the many extra-curricular trips and activities we run. This fund ensures that students do not have to miss out because of such disadvantages. Many students benefit annually from this fund, established by the former Headteacher, Mrs Phillips, on her retirement.
How to donate
Please click on the Donate button to set up a one-off or regular payment to the school. If you would like to specify which fund you want to contribute to, please use the ‘Your message’ section.
Cash or cheque
If you would like to contribute by cash or cheque, please send it to The Finance Office, The St Marylebone CE School, 64 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 5BA. Cheques should be made payable to St Marylebone School and a reference to the fund you would like to contribute to written on the back.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, the School can claim the tax you have already paid on your gift. By completing a Gift Aid Declaration, you can increase the value of your gift by 25% at no extra cost to you.
If you donate via the button above, you will be given an option to add Gift Aid. Alternatively, you can complete the Gift Aid Declaration Form and return it to the school as specified on the form.
If you require further information or assistance, please contact Deborah Loades (Business Development Manager) on 020 7935 4704 or by email at d.loades@stmaryleboneschool.com.
Thank you to all those who have given and continue to give to our School.
