Every year Year 9 students look forward to their Performing Arts Festival – a celebration of their work in Dance, Drama, Music and Art, and 2021 was not any different. Although we were not able to welcome a live audience, we released a film of the students’ work, which focused on this year’s theme of the St Marylebone Workhouse.
This theme was a result of a collaboration between the School, the English Folk, Dance and Song Society and St Marylebone Parish Church. We were granted access to amazing historical archives including folk songs and stories of the women who worked in the St Marylebone Workhouse. Year 9 used this as a stimulus for creativity, using Dance, Drama, Music and Art to bring their learning to life. The film was released during the week of Monday 12 July, when we celebrated students’ work in the Performing Arts.
