Last week St Marylebone celebrated Reading Week, fully embracing our school-wide love of books and the power of reading for pleasure. We marked the week with a range of activities, including book-based quizzes, paper craft pop-up book workshops, and a Scavenger Hunt! Students participated enthusiastically and the Hunt for examples of reading beloved by friends, families and teachers sparked many conversations! Congratulations to our Scavenger Hunt prize winners – Emily W in Y9, and Evelyn M and Parisa H in Y7!
During Reading Week we also celebrated the 25th Annual World Book Day! All students have received a £1 National Book Token. These can be swapped for a selection of free special edition World Book Day titles, or put towards the cost of any full price book! Tokens are redeemable until 27th March, so be sure to find a participating bookseller by then. World Book Day also saw a team of teachers surprise our pupils with a range of fabulous costumes! Including Where’s Wally, Cruella de Vil, Dracula, Little Red Riding Hood and a very convincing Captain Ahab, complete with peg leg, our love of a diverse range of tales was showcased!
