As per the school calendar, on Friday 29 September afternoon lessons are devoted to an Independent Study Programme. Lessons on-site finish for all students at 11.55 am to go home for lunch and complete directed curriculum time. All students should attend on-site as usual in the morning.
What independent study is my child required to do at home?
An afternoon curriculum activity has been set for each key stage to complete at home. Resources have been designed to take into account the needs of each year group and are based on students using the skills and strategies needed for independent learning.
This is important because:
– Learning is a shared responsibility, and students must be able to work independently to be effective learners.
-Research indicates that homework and independent study at secondary school are very important and help students make progress.
-Independent learning and effective revision is a skill that students need to practise and one which can be improved and developed if students are open to using multiple revision strategies.
