On Friday, our Year 12 and 13 Media Studies students had a virtual visit from journalist and broadcaster Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani. Caroline spoke to them about her career so far in which she has interviewed Arnold Schwarzenegger in New York, covered the protests in the US after George Floyd’s killing and – in an interview for Huff Post that went viral – questioned R Kelly about the allegations of sexual assault made against him. She answered the students’ questions very openly and talked about her time working for the national press in the UK and various broadcasters in the US. The students asked some really thoughtful questions about how she chooses her subjects for her interviews and documentaries and how she manages to remain impartial on emotive subjects, as well as how she handles some of the inevitable social media backlash.
