On Wednesday our Model UN Secretariat launched the very first SMS Model UN Conference with an excellent workshop for the participants. Five schools from across London attend the workshop which was designed and delivered by St Marylebone Students to introduce those who are new to MUN to the rules and procedures of debate.
Our students not only devised an introductory presentation, a kahoot to check students’ understanding and a mini UN simulation, but also facilitated committee meetings to support the development of students’ position papers. The students did an incredible job in facilitating conversations, teaching procedures and encouraging enthusiasm and a sense of joyful anticipation for the Model UN conference we will be holding next week.
Massive congratulations to Leyya and Marlena in Yr 11 for planning and organising the event. To Leyya, Marlena, Nikoo, Nadine, Talia, Lila, Esther, Imogen, Charlotte, Asma, Abi and Mekdu for running workshops and being absolutely incredible teachers and facilitators. Thanks to Ms McAndrew for running the Security Council and to Ruby for her support of fellow delegates.
We are all very much looking forward to SMSMUN, which will take place next week on the 1st of April! Watch this space for more news!
