For this year’s Performing Arts Festival students were inspired by the idea of CHANGE.
Each form was given this word as a starting point for their creative work. The students interpreted the word in a variety of ways, exploring themes such as changing your body, climate change, changing relationships, changing the world, and change makers.
During the two days of the Performing Arts Festival, Year 9 form groups worked collaboratively within the Arts disciplines to create a set design, and produce a performance featuring Drama, Dance and Music.
The artwork for the set was based on seasonal changes, with each form using specific colour combinations to represent each season. The medium of weaving was chosen for the artwork, as change is also inherent to this process, which requires the artist to disrupt their weft throughout. This encouraged our students to incorporate different fabrics, textures and colours, and constantly consider their intention behind these changes.
Well done to all students in Year 9 for showing curiosity and imagination in creating their work, and for such courageous performances.
